Rosey was born on April 7, 1970, in Ohio, a state in the United States. At the age of 47, Rosey passed away on April 17, 2017.
Rosey’s Early Life
He was a prospective NFL player before enrolling at the family-run Wild Samoan wrestling academy. Matthew Anoa’i was Rosey’s father. His father Sika and uncle Afa Anoa’i established the tag team Wild Somoans. He received a congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation diagnosis in 2014.
Anoai and Emmitt Smith played football for Escambia in high school in Pensacola, Florida. His aspirations were to play in the National Football League while he was a college football player for Hawaii. Despite suffering a leg injury while playing football, you departed Hawaii. Before opting to pursue professional wrestling training, he briefly worked in a number of New Orleans nightclubs.

Sika Anoa’i, a Samoan professional wrestler, is Anoai’s father. Mason, Ohio is the hometown of Anoai’s wife, Mandy Vandeberg. Jordan Iles and Koa Rodney Anoai, their two sons, and Madison Alani Anoai, their daughter, are their children.
Anoai also owned and operated Island Boi BBQ, a restaurant. Anoai underwent hospitalization in January 2014 for congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
Rosey’s WWE Wrestling Career Journey
At the Wild Samoan professional wrestling academy that their family members run, Anoai worked out alongside his cousin Eddie Fatu. After finishing their training, they made their professional wrestling debut with their uncle Afa’s World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) banner.
Later, as a member of the Samoan Gangsta Party, he began collaborating with Samu under the alias Mack Daddy Kane. They briefly participated in an ECW competition in the summer of 1996, where they faced off against a variety of tag teams, including The Gangstas, the Eliminators, and the Bruise Brothers.
They also faced off against Axl Rotten and Hack Meyers at Hardcore Heaven in June of that year. When Anoai returned to WXW in 1997, he and his cousin L.A. Smooth were a part of the Samoan Gangstas, which twice won the WXW Tag Team Championship.
While competing in Puerto Rico for the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in 1997, he and Tahiti became the WWC World Tag Team Champions on June 22. He went by the ring name Matty Samu. Together with Fatu, Anoa’i signed developmental contracts with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), was given the nickname The Island Boyz, and was placed in the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA), with Anoai going by the ring name Kimo.
They prevailed over Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore to capture the HWA Tag Team Championship in November 2001.
Rosey’s 3-Minute Notice Fame
The American football player Rosey Grier served as the model for the name Rosey. Each week, Eric Bischoff “hired” people to attack arbitrary wrestlers after giving them three minutes of his time to amuse him before attacking them or decided that three minutes of a segment was long enough before the crew intervened to end it.
They attacked many wrestlers, including Shawn Stasiak and D’Lo Brown, under orders from Bischoff. The Fabulous Moolah, Jimmy Snuka, Mae Young, and ring announcer Lilian Garcia were among the wrestlers that were attacked in addition to non-wrestlers.
Their most memorable act was the attack on two lesbians, which Anoai later highlighted as his preferred 3-Minute Warning encounter.
Matt “Rosey” Death News
According to WWE, Matt “Rosey” Anoa’i, a former WWE Superstar, died on 17 April 2017 at the age of 47. The Anoa’i family released the following statement in response to Rosey’s loss, which was reported by WWE.com:
The untimely demise of Sika’s son, Matt alias Rosey, has left the Anoa’i family in despair, They would like to express to his fans how much he valued them and the wrestling community. He left behind three adorable small children and a bereaved family when he passed away.
Please be considerate of his family’s need for privacy as they mourn the loss of this kind, selfless man who was a father, son, brother, and superhero to all of us.
